Picasso created this lithograph on May 24, 1957, "for the benefit of the newspaper 'Le Patriote' at Nice" (from Fernand Mourlot's catalogue raisonné, where it is number 291; also Bloch 830). The edition was 1,000 copies and signed with a stamped signature in the lower right margin.
In addition there were 200 signed and numbered copies, plus a few artist's proofs.
